The primary objective of the Member Development Manager is to drive membership growth at FuseDSM, the chamber of commerce representing the north, east and south sides of the City of Des Moines. 
FuseDSM, a 501c6 non-profit organization, is seeking a highly motivated and customer centric individual who would be responsible for not only driving membership growth, but also enhancing the visibility and branding of the chamber within the community, retention and engagement, securing event sponsorships and enhancing the overall member experience. 
The Member Development Manager works closely with the President/CEO, while also able to be self-motivated as well as a team player. All Chamber staff are required to be advocates for FuseDSM and the community. As a member of our small office, you may also be called on to fill in other roles, if necessary.

Essential Responsibilities:

·       Actively prospects and closes new chamber membership to businesses within the community, through personal visits, telephone, email and networking, to meet financial benchmarks/goals set by the chamber.
·       Actively sells FuseNews advertising.
·       Actively sells Sponsorship for chamber programs and events, as needed.
·       Implement and evolve membership onboarding program.
·       Creates opportunities to drive member engagement in our quality programs and experiences. 
·       Assists in the development of promotional campaigns to attract new members and aid existing members.
·       Maintains organized reports and spreadsheets associated with the position.
·       Ensures renewal rate of new members acquired by communicating to members throughout the year to make certain the member takes advantage of membership benefits, resources and remains engaged, while also helping the member to uncover problems and provide solutions. 
·       Represents the chamber at chamber and community events.
·       Coordinates with the chamber Ambassadors (Firestarters) to facilitate membership development and engagement.
·       Assisting with chamber events, as necessary.
·       Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.
Essential Skills:

·       Highly motivated and customer centric
·       Minimum 1 year experience in a sales/business development position
·       Confident in the ability to generate qualified leads and meet sales quotas
·       Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
·       Self-motivated, ability to work independently as well as with a supportive team
·       Proven problem solving, analytical and leadership skills with the ability to anticipate and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision.
·       Ability to identify problems and find creative, innovative, and effective solutions.
·       Professional business acumen and appearance
·       Strong MS Office skills, with ability to learn membership database software
·       Ability to work cohesively with a diverse range of stakeholders, include high-level executives, small business owners, political leaders, vendors, consultants and fellow staff.
·       Ability to manage several projects/activities at once, work under pressure, and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
·       Must possess the highest level of work ethic and integrity with the ability to maintain confidential information.
·       College degree a plus, however, not required with equal work experience.
·       Bilingual a plus
·       Valid drivers license, proof of insurance required.
·       $40,000 base salary (negotiable based on experience) + monthly commission and potential for quarterly bonus
